Hireology was recently featured in Built In Chicago alongside companies like Caterpillar and Belvedere Trading in a piece on how leading tech teams approach innovation. Group Product Manager Danny Wheeland shared how our team operates, and his answer gets at something we genuinely believe: innovation isn’t a feature release. It’s a habit.
The teams here start with measurable customer problems before committing to build anything. They run small experiments, do problem reviews early, and get usable concepts in front of customers to validate direction before investing heavily. That discipline means learning happens continuously, not just after something ships.
Danny put it plainly: “Because teams are rewarded for uncovering truth early, even when it changes the plan, improvement happens continuously rather than only after we’ve launched.”
It shows up in practice. Over the past year, the team has leaned into AI prototyping tools to iterate faster, close the gap between product, engineering, and UX, and test customer flows before they’re built. We’re building the right things faster because we know more before we start.
The other piece Danny highlighted is how we approach experimentation. We don’t run broad tests at the expense of the customer experience. We focus experiments on specific industries, roles, and hiring challenges so we’re validating meaningful impact with the smallest possible change. Our customers are partners in the process, not subjects of it.
