Here Comes the Wave of College Graduates

Posted by Erin Borgerson on April 25, 2014

May is just a week away and you know what that means? College graduation. If you haven't already experienced the pile up of resumes, take a deep breathe because here they come. As students are graduating, they now have more free time to apply to jobs because they most likely haven't already found one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because within the pile of resumes there is a lot of new talent.

Be Prepared

The best solution for an overload of resumes is an applicant tracking system, also known as an ATS. The benefit of using an ATS is it does most of the sorting for you.10672167_s Instead of having resumes constantly flooding your email inbox an ATS not only receives them, but organizes them too. An ATS allows you to go through the resumes quickly and eliminate candidates who aren't a fit for the job.

You guessed it, the next step is to hire all the talented college graduates. When you have a lot of candidates to interview it can be difficult to make distinctions between each interview. The best way to prevent this is by asking the same interview questions to each candidate by using interview scorecards. By doing this you will be able to record and quickly score each candidate right after the interview. Using this process also helps guarantee hiring a good hire.

We all know it's coming, but the best way to successfully hire is to prepare. There really isn't terrible about having a bunch of new talent lining up to work for you company.
