Why Your Franchise Team Should Encompass These 4 Work Styles

When opening a new franchise, assembling the right team is one of the most important factors that will lead to your success. That is why it is important to take the time to carefully build a team that works well together. A team made up of varying personalities that complement one another can result in more effective behavior than a team that contrasts in opposing styles. To avoid clashing work styles and to ensure smooth operations, your team should include different work styles and personalities but they need to complement each other.

  2.        The Delegator: The delegator is oftentimes the true leader of the group, even if they haven’t officially been given the title. They excel in managing people and dividing all of the necessary tasks among the team. The delegator is the individual who makes sure that all tasks are on schedule and are completed when they need to be. Without the delegator, a team may lack organization and direction.

  3.        The Executor: This personality type can be viewed as the opposite of the problem solver. They may not always have the initial idea of how to solve a problem or manage a situation, but they know very well how to execute the solution. This type of individual simply knows how to get the job done. If your team is made up of all idea people and lacking execution, then it may lag behind instead of accelerating ahead.

  4.        The Motivator: These individuals are known for keeping the team moving and boosting morale amongst  the group – oftentimes dubbed as the team cheerleader. When you are overflowing with work and stress on the job, it can be overwhelming. The motivator provides genuine words of encouragement for the team to get them through the hardest and busiest days with a great attitude, helping the team stay focused and attentive to the task at hand.

How Franchise Managers Can Incorporate This Information into Hiring Practices

When looking at your franchise in terms of hiring needs, first take a step back to examine the vacant position and the individuals that the new employee will be working with. Looking at the current personality types within your team can give you better insight into what type of personality you should hire. If your team is comprised of mostly executors and visionaries, then you should look for job candidates who excel in providing motivation or delegating tasks.

That being said, these qualities aren’t necessarily ones that people list on their resumes. For this reason, it’s important to ask the right interview questions and administer personality assessments to find out more about what your candidate will bring to the table.
