Fridays in the Lab: The importance of collaboration

Posted by Erin Borgerson on November 1, 2013

If you watch our weekly Fridays in the Lab updates, you very well know that we love TED Talks. Not only are they inspiring, but many of the messages will stick with you and make you think for weeks the come.

That's exactly the case with Clay Shirky's talk on institutions versus collaboration. Throughout his talk, Shirky discusses how corporate hierarchical structures and closed groups will eventually be replaced my "looser networks" where the little guys have a voice too.

What's so interesting about this talk is that we're already beginning to see Shirky's predictions play out. While he gave his TED talk in 2005 - before the trend of open workplaces and when employee engagement wasn't really a concern, it's evident that Shirkey's outlook is right on track.

See where statistics suggest we're headed in this informational guide!
