Applicant Tracking Systems - What's Really Important?

Posted by Adam Robinson on April 12, 2011

Is your inbox getting flooded with candidate applications after you post an open job?  Are you downloading and storing resumes locally? If so, it's time to consider an Applicant Tracking System.

An Applicant Tracking System, or ATS, is a portal through which you and your hiring team manage candidates who are being considered for one or more positions with your company.  There are over 400 flavors of applicant tracking systems on the market, but the vast majority of them are either client/server-based (meaning, you have to install something on your computer), or are loaded with features you'll never need - and expensive.

Hireology's Applicant Tracking System was designed to include only those features that are critical to the task at hand - managing and processing candidates.  We've designed our simple, easy-to-use ATS to handle the three most important functions:

  1. Consolidated candidate storage.  If you're currently managing your candidates by receiving resumes through your inbox and then downloading/storing files locally, then you're probably ready to smash your keyboard with a hammer.  Hireology's Applicant Tracking System will ensure that all candidate submissions come through our web-based interface - you just log in and review.  No more "death by resume."
  2. Easy resume review.  Our customers told us that their biggest recruiting time-waster involved opening and reviewing resumes.  Hireology's Applicant Tracking System gives you a simple pop-up interface to review resumes without having to juggle between multiple web pages. Easy!
  3. Simple candidate processing.  Want to immediately reject an unqualified candidate with an automated rejection letter?  Hireology does that.  Want to tee up a candidate for a telephone screen?  Hireology does that.  Want to consider a candidate for multiple jobs, simultaneously?  Hireology does that.  Our ATS has it's recruiting workflow mojo workin', and we save your time as a result.

Beyond these three areas, additional Applicant Tracking Features are optional extras.  Yes, Hireology offers lots of extra goodies in our ATS, but we think that keeping it simple is the way to go.
